Meet Hayley Hoben-Blight - Equality Diversity & Inclusion Lead

Can you tell us about a typical day or what your role involves?  How long have you been in the role for, how did you start off?

I’m Hayley YHN’s first Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (ED&I) Lead. The ED&I role was introduced as staff felt that YHN needed a specialised role that would take responsibility to deliver a coordinated response to plans, projects and strategies to embed ED&I across the business and be the best we could for our customers. YHN already do some fantastic work around ED&I, but there is so much further we can go to be a truly inclusive organisation.

In the short time I have been in the role, I am already making some important contacts in the world of ED&I and have made some key commitments to the way we deliver ED&I across the business, to include; recognising that one type of communication does not suit everyone and by adapting the way we communicate with each other we can make someone feel valued and included.

I aim to make positive changes wherever I can to ensure YHN is a brilliant place to work and supports all of our customers. I believe that giving the opportunity to staff and customers, to have accessible forums, and for diverse groups to come together to ask questions and share experiences, we can grow as a company and as individuals.

What do you enjoy most about your job? 

I am ecstatic to be given the opportunity to take on this role and champion ED&I, I am truly commitment to improving the way we deliver ED&I to ensure everyone feels valued.  

What do you love about YHN?

For me what makes YHN so unique is that we employ a range of staff who are brimming with energy and focus and who really want to make a difference. Individuals can shape how we move forward as a company and we are always evolving, looking at different perspectives and revolutionary ways of doing things. I don’t think that our staff realise how amazing they are, and by all the things that they do and the values they possess enables us to deliver an excellent service to our customers.
