Energy efficiency improvements to properties

YHN is committed to supporting Newcastle City Council’s aim to be “net zero” by 2030. With this in mind, we’re carrying out lots of improvement works to properties across the city to make them more energy efficient. This includes things like changing heating sources and adding insulation and new windows.

Social Housing Decarbonation Fund

The Government’s Social Housing Decarbonisation Fund (SHDF) provides a funding pot of  £850m for social housing providers across the country to upgrade the energy efficiency of their housing stock.

Newcastle City Council has secured funding toward costs to upgrade insulation, convert homes to low carbon heating and install solar PV across 680 homes.  The properties were selected during the SHDF application process and had to meet the funding conditions, which included that the properties must have a low energy performance rating and the measures installed must bring the property up to an energy performance rating of EPC band C.

Unfortunately, customers cannot apply individually for funding.

The projects will be delivered over the next couple of years and customers living in the selected properties will be informed of the proposed improvements at the appropriate time in the development of the work
