We understand that changes on this scale can be unsettling so please don’t worry – we’re here to help as best we can.

Our advice and support team operates out of each of our housing services hubs across the city and officers can help with queries around Universal Credit as well as other benefit issues. They can also offer help and support around budgeting and money management and can signpost you to many other organisations who can offer support too.

  • Help to budget

    There is lots of practical information in the “money” section of our website, including advice on ways to manage your money, budgeting tips and options for paying your rent. You can access all of this from here.

    This short film can also give you some really useful information about other ways to make the most of your money, including reductions in your energy bills.

    You can also arrange to meet one of our advice and support workers in your local housing office using the contact details listed here.

  • Help to get online

    YHN has a team of Digital Champions, who are customers we’ve trained to help other customers get used to the online world. They can visit various community locations across Newcastle and can show you how to access the internet and how to set up an email address amongst other things. We’re also involved in arranging free training courses in various locations, and we work with Newcastle City Council to provide access to PCs and tuition.

    We know that searching for work can be really difficult sometimes and it can be hard to know where to start. We also know that interviews can be very nerve wracking and it’s not always easy to get your skills across. We can help with all of this in a number of ways, and you can read more about that here
