Follow your instincts

Our caretakers do regular block checks around their buildings and while one of our caretakers was undertaking his usual block check, he noticed one of the customer's parcels were outside his door. This is a normal occurrence in our high-rise buildings so caretakers usually knock on customers to alert them they are there. He did this for the customer and there was no answer (again normal occurrence as customers aren’t always in their home.)

He noticed the parcels were still there after a few hours so knocked again and still got no answer.  He then started to worry that there was something wrong so contacted the housing officer for a contact number and checked his fob access into the building. The customer hadn’t been out and there was no answer when the caretaker rang.

He knew something wasn’t right, so he stood outside the customer's home and rang his mobile again to see if he could hear it ring. He could but there was still no answer, so he rang the Police to gain entry in the flat.  He was right to do this as the customer had fell ill and was sent straight to the RVI.
