To help you gain the confidence and skills you need to get online we have teamed up with Newcastle City Library and now offer free computer training for all YHN tenants. One to one support is offered in these sessions and we run the classes in a relaxed and in formal way.

What support do we offer?

Learn My Way, Online Basics courses – Wednesdays and Thursdays, 10.30 – 1.00pm
These courses are perfect for supporting you to gain basic computing skills, to help you access and use the internet. You will develop your confidence in using computers, sending emails, searching the internet for information and attaching photos and your CV to emails.

This course runs over two sessions, giving you five hours of one-to-one support and on completion of the course you will get a certificate.

Travel costs will be reimbursed on production of a valid day ticket.

Places must be booked, for dates and availability see instructions below. You only need to book for the first date of the course, you will then automatically be booked on for the second week.

NEW COURSE – Learn My Way, Intro to Office, starting Tuesday 5th November 2019 10.30 – 12.30pm
This course is perfect for anyone wanting to get a basic understanding of how to use Word, Excel and PowerPoint. You will need to know how to use these programmes if you want to work in an office environment. This course will show you how to edit your CV, use cut and paste options, how to sort a spreadsheet and how to present your work on slides.

Techy Tea Party courses are for tenants who have a tablet, iPad, smartphone or laptop that they would like to be able to use more competently. Topics covered include basic settings, how to secure your device, general navigation and downloading apps.

Places must be booked, for dates and availability see instructions below. You can book to attend for 4 of these sessions.

How do I book my place?

All of these free courses are bookable on the homepage of this website, just click on ‘Your Homes Newcastle’ at the top left hand side of this page and you will be taken to the Home Page, a carousel of events is displayed at the bottom of the page.

Choose the course that you would like to attend and book yourself a place. If you don’t have an email address just use Getonline@newcastle.gov.uk your E-ticket confirming your place at the session will then be posted out to you.

Don’t worry, if you can’t book your place online, staff at your local Housing Hub can do this for you, or you can just pop into the City Library. You can also call 0191 277 4100 and an advisor will book a place for you.

    If you are using your own email address don't worry about printing your E-ticket, once you receive the E-ticket in your email 'Inbox' your place has been booked.

    If you don't have access to a computer to book onto a course just call 0191 277 4100 and an advisor will book a place for you.
