Lots of exciting apprenticeships on offer at city event

We are hosting our biggest apprenticeship recruitment event alongside Newcastle City Council this April to showcase the opportunities we have across the organisations.

The event is taking place on Thursday 27April at Newcastle City Library between 3pm and 7pm. Attendees will have the opportunity to speak to recruiting managers about the roles and find out more about if an apprenticeship is right for them.

Staff from Repairs and Construction, Highways, Gardening, Warehouse, Business Admin, Early Years and Customer Service will be at the event to talk about the roles in their teams and answer any questions attendees will have.

Pam Perry, Director for Workforce and Inclusion said: “An apprenticeship with NCC and YHN can open so many doors and is an excellent way to gain those skills you need to follow a career path.

“This is an event for people of all ages with a wide variety of roles. There will be people on hand to answer any questions you have and to support you with the application process.

“Come along by yourself or with a parent/carer and find out why an apprenticeship with Newcastle City Council or YHN is the right choice for you.”

Tina Drury, Group Managing Director at YHN, said: “This is the biggest apprenticeship event we’ve held in the city, and we’re really excited to see people come along to see the opportunities we have at YHN and NCC, and find out why an apprenticeship is right for them.”

“A lot of people in YHN and Newcastle City Council started in an apprenticeship role and have worked their way up and we’d love to see that with this year’s applicants. We want YHN and NCC to be standout employers in the city when people are looking at their career choices.”

This event is one of the first to take place since a new city-wide employment partnership was launched in March, with the aim of providing an improved and more coordinated approach for people looking for work and apprenticeships.

At the event, parents and carers also can attend an information session to find out more about their dependants starting an apprenticeship. All apprenticeships on offer are open to all ages and there will be plenty of staff on the day to speak to about whether an apprenticeship is right for you.

To book a place at the event, email employabilityteam@yhn.org.uk or text 07814753088.
