Steve joined Asfaleia Board as Chair in September 2017. He has been involved in Housing in the North East for over 40 years and was Director of Housing and also Director of Adult Social Services at Gateshead Council.
He was a non executive director for Isos Housing Group for 9 years and its Vice Chair for six years. During this time he was also on the Milecastle and Cestria Housing Association Boards.
He is a past Regional Chair and national Council member of the Chartered Institute of Housing.
Steve is also a member of Group Audit and Risk Committee.
Dennis joined the Asfaleia Board Limited in September 2017.
He is a solicitor with over 35 years’ experience in local government in the North East, having latterly been Commercial Manager at Gateshead Council. His specialisms include governance, shared services and procurement.
He is currently an active member of two Law Society Committees, having been National Chair of the Local Government Lawyers’ representative body; he is a Parish Councillor and a co-opted member on the Standards Committee of a large local authority in the area. He is active locally as a job coach in a job support charity and is passionate about local government services in the region.
Doreen was appointed to the Board by Newcastle City Council in May 2012. Doreen previously served as a YHN Council Member between June 2006 and May 2007.
Doreen is a Liberal Democrat Councillor for North Heaton. She is a member of the Tyne & Wear Joint Trading Standards Committee Doreen is also a governor of the North East Ambulance Service and a member of the Royal College of Nursing.
Doreen is a Director of our Asfaleia Limited Subsidiary Company.
Rachel joined the Asfaleia board in September 2017. She has worked at an Executive Level in social housing since 2004 within an Arms Length Management Organisation and a Housing Association. She is currently Executive Director Finance & Business Support at North Star Housing Group.
Rachel is a Chartered Public Finance Accountant and holds management qualifications including an MBA.
She is also Vice-Chair of a primary school governing body.
Rachel is a member of the Finance and Performance Committee.
Helen joined the Board in September 2017. She currently Chairs Trustees Unlimited, (a partnership which matches senior potential Trustees with charities who need their skills), leads consulting and coaching projects with Simpson & Associates and is a Trustee of the St Martin-in-the-Fields Charity. Helen previously held senior executive roles in business development. IT, transformation and strategy with BT and before that BP. After many years based in London she has returned home to the north and enjoys using her mix of commercial and charitable expertise to make a difference.
Helen is a Director of our Asfaleia Limited Subsidiary Company.
