The easiest way to report a non-emergency repair is to use our new online portal – it’s a really handy system and can be easily accessed with a mobile phone. In order to use the portal you’ll need to register via the My Council section on the Newcastle City Council website – you’ll need your rent number to do so, which you can get from your local housing office – then you just need to set up a username and password and you’re good to go! The portal provides lots of repair types to choose from and helps you to easily provide all of the information we need to book someone to attend to your repair.   At Your Homes Newcastle, we are jointly responsible with you for looking after your home.  We rely on you to inform us of any repairs as soon as possible so that work can be arranged. We will make sure all properties are kept in good repair, including the structure and outside of your property. Tenant responsibilities Before you report a repair, you should ensure that the repair is not your responsibility If you report a repair that is actually your responsibility, or you have damaged the property,you may be charged for the cost of the repair. Repairs priorities Your repair will be given a priority code to indicate how quickly it should be carried out; the priority depends depends on the nature of the fault and the possible risk to health and safety. Emergency or urgent repairs are those if not attended to, could cause serious damage to the building or property or cause a health and safety risk such as gas leaks, burst pipes, or total electrical failure. Routine repairs are repairs which will not interfere with the comfort or convenience of the resident in.
