Your rent is charged weekly on a Monday to your account and payments should be made in advance of the rent being due. If you want to pay over a longer period (eg) fortnightly, four weekly or monthly; you must make an arrangement with your local officer to reflect this. Any large credit balance refunds will need to be paid into a bank account, as we can no longer issue cheques. Contact your Income Officer for more information.

  • Direct Debit

    This is the most preferred, convenient and safest way to pay - all you need is a bank or building society account.

  • Online payments

    It’s quick and easy to pay your rent or service charges online. You will need:

    • Your credit* or debit card.
    • Your reference number or invoice The cardholder must be present during the transaction.

    *We do not accept American Express, JCB or Diners Club cards.
  • Swipe card

    You can still pay your YHN rent and service charges in person using a swipe card at any Post Office or Pay Point outlet. To do this you need:

    • a swipe card or
    • the barcode on your letter or ticket.

  • Personal internet banking/ Standing Order

    if you want to use personal online banking to pay your rent, please use the following bank details to make a payment/transfer:

    You must quote your 11 digit customer reference number and the full amount to be paid.
  • Phone

    payments can be made by calling 0191 278 7878. Please follow the telephone instructions below:

    • Step 1: When prompted say ‘Payments’
    • Step 2: When prompted say the type of payment you wish to make e.g. 'Rent' and continue to follow the payment instructions.

    You must ensure that you have your 11 digit reference number and a valid debit or credit card. Your nearest YHN Housing Services office can confirm your 11 digit reference number. Please note: We do not accept American Express, JCB or Diners Club cards.
  • Post

    Cheque’s should be made payable to ‘Newcastle City Council’ and mailed to:
