The Act was designed to simplify the benefits system but, while everyone gets used to the changes, they can actually seem much more complicated.

Our advice and support workers will always be able to advise you about benefits and can help to make sure you’re receiving everything you should be, but you can find a lot of information out for yourself online – we’ve included some useful links below.

The government also has lots of information relating to benefits at www.gov.uk. You can find descriptions of all the different benefits as well as links to trusted "benefit calculators" which ask you for a few details in order to show you what you might be entitled to. You can access their benefits calculators here and can even apply online.
Please note: it is very important that you tell the benefits team at Newcastle City Council about any changes in your circumstances or income as this may affect the amount of benefit you are entitled to.
