  • Mystery shopping

    Mystery shopping is a great way to help us improve our services for all customers. Mystery shoppers measure the quality of the service from a tenant's perspective, focussing on the customer experience. Your feedback can help us understand how we are seen by our tenants. It's a great way to make a big difference with a relatively small time commitment.

    As a mystery shopper, you could get involved in assessing the services provided by our front line staff by visiting one of our offices or by email or phone. You might highlight excellent service, suggest ways we can improve.

    You don’t need any previous experience since all of our mystery shoppers receive training.
  • Newcastle Independent Tenant Voice

    Newcastle Independent Tenant Voice (NITV) is a new and genuine conversation between tenants, leaseholders and the council on major issues of interest and concern to people living in Your Homes Newcastle properties. Each of the 26,000 YHN tenant and leaseholders will be welcome to share their views on major policy changes using their independent voices.

    How can I get involved?

    There will be lots of opportunities for you to have your say on housing issues through things like online surveys, social media, pop-up events and work with groups to understand your views.

    Tenant Panel

    An important part of NITV is the Tenant Panel. This group will be made up of tenants and leaseholders from across Newcastle. They will be responsible for interpreting the information gathered from all tenants and leaseholders and then presenting it to the Council's Fairer Housing Unit (FHU). The FHU, responsible for strategic engagement, will use this information to make decisions which will be fed back to the Tenant Panel. The FHU will use NITV to engage and consult tenants and leaseholders when new national or local policies are going to change.

    The Panel will also be able to shape how tenants and leaseholders across the city are engaged. This will include developing an engagement plan and a digital plan with the help and support of the Communities Team. The intention is that all work should be owned and shaped by tenants and leaseholders to allow them to make their independent voices heard.

    YHN Chit-Chat
    This is our involvement group on Facebook. It has been created  for us to have a chat, keep in touch and keep you informed about different things that might affect you and where you live.

    You will get kept up to date with what we are up to and of there will also be competitions and a little fun. This is a great opportunity for us to get to know our customers a little better on a more informal level.

    Throughout the year we hold discussion groups where customers give their views on a specific service or issue that we want feedback on. 

    We use customers’ comments from the groups to make changes and improve our services.

    The groups are held in easy to get to places and we can help with travel costs.

  • Online surveys

    If you are looking for a way to give your views on housing services from your home you can join our online panel. Online panel members are invited to take part in email and telephone surveys.
