There are a number of reasons you may want to contact us in an Emergency.

  • Repairs

    If you have an emergency you can call the Repairs Centre on 0191 278 8600.

    Examples of emergencies are:

    • no usable toilet in the property
    • major structural damage
    • no heating or hot water in winter
    • total loss of electricity
    • you cannot get into your home or your home is not secure (you will need a crime number for this kind of repair)

  • Reporting a crime

    In an emergency, if somebody's life is in danger or a crime is taking place, call 999

    To report all other crimes or incidents, or for general information and advice, call Northumbria Police on 101 or text 07786 200 814

    For the deaf and hard of hearing: minicom 01661 820 915 or text 07786 200 815

  • To report Anti-Social Behaviour

    You can report Anti-Social Behaviour 24 hours a day by calling 0191 278 7878.

  • If you smell gas

    If you smell gas anytime, day or night every day of the year by calling 0800 111 999
    • Don't create a flame or operate electrical switches
    • Do put out flames
    • open doors and windows
    • keep people away from the area and
    • turn the gas off at the control valve.
    Your call will not cost you anything. Just pick up the phone, dial the number and you will be put through to a trained operator who will take all the details.
  • Social Services

    Help is available if you, or someone you know who is being cared for by community care services, is at risk of abuse or neglect.

    For social work emergencies outside office hours (adults and children) call 0191 278 7878

    Deaf community: 18001.

  • Domestic violence

    If you need accommodation after 4.30pm you should call the Out of Hours Emergency Service on 0191 278 7878
