Direct Debit frequently asked questions
If I pay by Direct Debit, does Your Homes Newcastle take
the money from my account when it wants?
You can choose to pay either on the 5th or 20th of each month,
or weekly on a Friday. Payments will be taken on or immediately
after the date you have chosen.
Your Homes Newcastle will not change this date without your prior
agreement.
If the amount you pay changes you will be told at least 10 working
days in advance.
What happens if a mistake is made?
If Your Homes Newcastle or your Bank or Building Society makes
an error, you are guaranteed a full and immediate refund of the
amount paid.
How long does it take for the money to reach my rent
account?
Monies will be credited to your account on the same day that the
payment is made.
What happens if my rent changes?
We will recalculate the amount that you need to pay and advise
you at least 10 working days in advance of any change. As long as
you wish to continue paying by Direct Debit you do not to do
anything.
How can I keep track of my rent account?
Every thirteen weeks we will send you a rent statement
detailing every transaction that has taken place on your account
during that period.
If you require an up to date statement at any other time just
contact your local Your Homes Newcastle Office who will post one
out to you. If there are any changes to the amount you pay we will
contact you with the revised payments at least 10 working days
prior to the due date.

Do I need a particular type of account to use Direct
Debit?
Yes. You must have a current account with a bank or building
society. However, some deposit accounts can be used too - you
should check with your bank or building society.
Can I cancel a Direct Debit?
Yes. You simply write to your bank or building society
cancelling the instruction. A copy should be sent to Your Homes
Newcastle.
Is it more expensive for Your Homes Newcastle to collect
rent by Direct Debit?
Rent collection costs are much less if payment is made by Direct
Debit. Everyone who pays by Direct Debit reduces the collection
costs - making the service more efficient and cost effective. We
