Supported accommodation flats (North Kenton)
What do we do?
We provide 16 move-on flats in a supported accommodation
block.
We give young people the opportunity to live independently
and help them develop their skills and confidence so that they
are ready to live independently or with the help of floating
support for up to 18 months.
We also arrange:
- drop in sessions
- group work with Youth Voice
- positive activities
- community events .
Facilities
- 3 floors, with 16 flats for single young people
- Ground floor with offices, and a communal area for young people
to meet up
- The communal area has use of the internet and a kitchen
- Individual flats have their own kitchen (including cooker,
fridge & washing machine), living room, bedroom and
ensuite
- Flats are fully furnished and the block is monitored 24 hours a
day by CCTV and each flat has there own intercom system.

What support do we provide?
We can help young people:
- apply for benefits/budgeting
- make a positive contribution to the community
- live on their own, and maintain a successful tenancy
- stay healthy and eat well
- find training or a job
- improve Maths and English skills
- make friends
- make and keep appointments with others who can help them such
as the benefits agency or training providers
- solve problems and make choices about their life such as how to
improve their lifestyle
- manage behaviour and needs if they have been involved in
crime
- help with emotional wellbeing and any mental health
problems
- work with other agencies such as organisations who can help
with drug and alcohol problems.
The referral criteria
- 16 – 21 years old
- Homeless or at risk of being homeless
- Male and female
- Vulnerable
- Isolated
- In need of support
Referral should be made using the standard referral form,
available from Young People's
Service referrals or by phoning 0191 277
1190.
All sections of the form should be completed with as much
information as possible to enable us to make an assessment as to
whether or not we should accept the referral, based on level of
need.
