The Minories is an innovative sheltered housing complex combining independent living in self contained flats with a day centre and residential unit. It has easy access to Jesmond and the city centre. There is a range of shops nearby and also regular bus services.

The scheme consists of 24 one bedroom flats and has its own secure main entrance with door intercom linked to cameras for added security. The scheme has a communal lounge and kitchen which can be used by residents individually or in groups. The scheme also has a hair salon and an adapted shower/bathroom for tenants' use.

What will my flat be like?

The one bedroom flats have their own lounge, bedroom, bathroom and wc. There is a fitted kitchen with its own cooker and fridge supplied.

Each flat has a number of warden call pull cords, which link each resident to the CCAS Control Room in case of emergency. Your warden will show you how to operate this equipment.
 

How much will it cost?

The average rent for a flat in a sheltered scheme is about £42 per week .The service will cost you about £11 a week. This does not include the charge for general maintenance of the building such as cleaning the shared areas. We include the cost of the service in your rent. We will tell you if we change the charge and we try to keep the cost as low as possible.
