Leagreen Court is a sheltered bungalow scheme consisting of 26
spacious one bedroom bungalows in a popular area of Gosforth,
Newcastle upon Tyne.

Sheltered Housing Officer: Marjorie Dalgarno
"Hello, my name is Marjorie and I’ve been a Sheltered Housing
Officer for over 9 years. Before this job I was an activity
coordinator for The Blind Society, so I was able to bring with me
experience of supporting people with a range of different needs and
experiences and knowing where to find information that might help
people.
"I’ve always been interested in helping older people live
independently, no matter how old they are. Here at Leagreen Court
we have a lot of social activities in the evenings because this
suits the people living here. We also work closely with other
local people to improve and maintain the gardens so that people can
enjoy them all year round.
"Working here has taught me that people always have the ability
to surprise you!
"I‘m a compassionate and caring person who can be relied on when
people need my help."

What will my
bungalow be like?
Each bungalow has its own lounge, kitchen, bathroom and
bedroom(s). Doorways are wide, enabling wheelchair access. There
are warden call alarm pull cords in each of the main rooms that
link each bungalow to the Sheltered Housing Officer or CCAS giving
24 hour cover in case of emergencies.
How much will it cost?
The average rent for a bungalow in a sheltered scheme is about
£45 per week .The service will cost you about £11 a week. This does
not include the charge for general maintenance of the building such
as cleaning the shared areas. We include the cost of the service in
your rent. We will tell you if we change the charge and we try to
keep the cost as low as possible.
