Meet the Sheltered Housing Officers: Melanie Ward and
"Hi my name is Melanie and I have been a Sheltered Housing
Officer for 4 years now. I have always enjoyed helping people and
was previously a Deputy Manager in an Older Persons home before
coming here - so I feel like I was able to bring lots of experience
with me when I came to Hadrian House.
"I’ve enjoyed learning all about the people and the area as it
is part of a very tight close-knit community and there’s a lovely
group of people living here.
"If I had to describe myself I would say I am quiet,
understanding and patient."
"Hi, my name is Rachel.
I used to work as a systems administrator and I have to say my
computer skills have come in very handy in this job!
"Hadrian House has a really friendly feel to the place because
people here are a very close community and everyone looks out for
everyone else. Some people find it difficult to get out and
about so I often organise trips and love it when I see how much
people enjoy themselves. As I’m from Yorkshire we often head
down that way because I know all the best places to go. We will be
going down in the near future to go the Christmas Market in York –
always a treat!"
How much will it cost?
The average rent for a bungalow in a sheltered scheme is about
£45 per week .The service will cost you about £11 a week. This does
not include the charge for general maintenance of the building such
as cleaning the shared areas. We include the cost of the service in
your rent. We will tell you if we change the charge and we try to
keep the cost as low as possible.
