Each flat has warden call pull cords in each room for use in any type of emergency. This gives you a rapid response and peace of mind that someone is always on call.

Dunira OfficerMeet the Sheltered Housing Officer: Tony White

"Hi I’m Tony and I have been a Sheltered Housing Officer for over 7 years. I started my working life as a policeman ‘down south’ working in both the Dog Handling Section and the Armed Response unit. Having been a policeman, this job appealed to me because I have lots of experience of meeting and working with different people – it’s a part of the job I really enjoy and my experience has helped.

"I get a great sense of achievement and enjoyment knowing that I have been able to help people when they need it.  It’s important to really get to know each person and what their needs are so I can help them to the best of my abilities.

"Here at Dunira we have our own fish pond and a 6 hole putting green which we hope soon to extend it to 8 holes!

"If I had to describe myself in a few words I would say I’m helpful, kind, considerate and fair.  I’m very approachable and always willing to listen."

Interesting fact: "I was once asked to represent Great Britain in a ‘canine biathlon’ when I was in the police force, after finishing 11th in the country in a national event."

How much will it cost?

The average rent for a flat in a sheltered scheme is about £65 per week .The service will cost you about £11 a week. This does not include the charge for general maintenance of the building such as cleaning the shared areas. We include the cost of the service in your rent. We will tell you if we change the charge and we try to keep the cost as low as possible.
