We will arrange to carry out a service and safety check every year for each gas appliance owned by Newcastle City Council and you will be provided with a copy of the service sheet. This annual check is compulsory by law.

If you require an alternative appointment please contact our Repairs Centre on 0191 277 8888 to arrange this. Should you be out when the contractor calls, please make sure you contact the Repairs Centre to rearrange access.

The contractor will attempt to gain access and then a letter will be sent from us requesting that you make an appointment for the gas service.

Please note it is part of your Tenancy Agreement that access is made for repairs / servicing.

If we are unable to gain access we will obtain a warrant from the court under the Environmental Protection Act (1990) to allow us to force entry. You will be charged for legal proceedings plus any cost should forced entry be required (approx £160).
