Why pay by Direct Debit?
Paying your rent by Direct Debit is the easiest way to
pay.
Because your bank or building society makes the payment for you
there are:
- no queues
- no cheques to write
- no paperwork or postage every month.
It also helps us to keep costs under control, so we can
make savings which will be passed on to you.
And paying your rent by Direct Debit could win you £50 because
we'll enter you into a free monthly
prize draw.
How does it work?
You are given advance notice of the amount to be debited to your
account and your bank or building society will give you an
immediate refund in the unlikely event that anything should go
wrong.
How do I start paying my rent by Direct Debit?
You need to complete a Direct Debit mandate, available from:
- your local Community Housing Office
- YHN's Income Section (tel: 0191 278 7749, email:
income@yhn.org.uk)

Please note: the instruction should not be sent to your
bank.
When can I pay my rent my Direct Debit?
You can choose to pay either on the 5th or 20th of each month,
or weekly on a Friday.
With Direct Debit you have a guarantee that you will get a full
refund in the unlikely event of an error happening.
You are free to cancel at any time.
You will be advised at least 10 working days in advance of any
changes in the amount due.
