Our Grant Aid budget
We want to contribute to ensuring that all people living or
working in Newcastle are provided with appropriate and inclusive
services and opportunities. The Asylum Seeker/Refugee Grant
Aid Budget is a responsive and flexible fund for community and
voluntary projects.
Projects seeking grant aid should be of direct benefit to people
seeking asylum or those with refugee status living or working in
the Newcastle upon Tyne area and must comply with all the
eligibility criteria and at least one of the eight strategic
objectives listed below:
- promoting education, training and lifelong learning for asylum
seekers and refugees
- increasing community safety for asylum seekers and
refugees
- tackling racist abuse, harassment and discrimination towards
asylum seekers and refugees
- promoting awareness raising around issues relating to asylum
seekers and refugees
- developing or improving community resources, services and/or
facilities to assist in the settlement of people seeking asylum or
with refugee status
- improving health for asylum seekers and refugees
- undertaking research into asylum and refugee issues in
Newcastle
- promoting the opportunity for asylum seekers and refugees to
take a full and active part in community life including the
creation of opportunities for people to meet each other
