Advice and Support -what we do and how we can help you

We are organised into 3 teams: The Advice and Support Worker Outreach team, the Refugee Move On team, and the Pathways team.

The ASW Outreach team

  • can support you to develop skills so you can manage a tenancy
  • gives support to new tenants to help you set up home
  • gives advice on what benefits you may be able to claim
  • gives advice on accessing furniture
  • gives advice that can help you stay in your tenancy
  • provides advice on budgeting
  • provides advice on debt
  • can help you to live independently
  • looks at all of your problems and helps you deal with them
  • refers you to services which can help you look at your future plans and aspirations.

The Refugee Move On team

The Refugee Move On Team is a team of five Advice and Support Workers which has been set up to help people who have just been granted leave to remain in the country and need help to settle into the local community.  We try to prevent homelessness by helping clients with a range of issues including:

  • access to accommodation
  • benefits which they may be entitled to finding out about the local community
  • work
  • health
  • education, training and employment opportunities.

One post within the Refugee Move On Team is dedicated to work with private sector clients.

The Pathways Team

The Pathways Team was set up in November 2006. It is a housing related support service which aims to give vulnerable people ‘Pathways’ into independent living and prevent homelessness.

This team works with people who want to leave supported accommodation, private sector housing, hospital inpatients who require new accommodation and people with drug and alcohol addictions who are looking to leave rehab and re-enter mainstream housing.
