Adaptations Service
YHN's Adaptations team can help older or disabled tenants to remain
independent at home for as long as possible.
How can we help?
We can make your home easier to live in by:
- providing adaptations to your home (e.g. adding a stair
lift, ramp or showering facilities)
- answering any queries you may have about existing adaptations
in your home or adaptations due to be fitted in your home.
We consult with you before the work is done, support you during
the work itself, and provide aftercare when the work is
finished.
How to apply
First, you’ll need an assessment from Newcastle City Council
Social Services. You can arrange this by contacting the
Social Services Duty Officer:
- Social Service Duty Team: 0191 278 8377
They will take down your details to find out what kind of help
you need. If it is minor works then Equipment Direct will be able
to provide you with equipment. If you require an adaptation then
the occupational therapy service will also assess you in you
home.
If your home is included in the Modern Homes Programme we can
co-ordinate your adaptations to minimise disruption.
