At a special Oscars-style celebration on 10th September, Your Homes Newcastle and the Newcastle Evening Chronicle presented the North East's Number One Neighbours with Good Neighbour Awards and praised the efforts of people who have been an inspiration to those around them.

Our awards highlight people who have dedicated their time to helping others and have made their community a better place to live. 

The awards are our chance to say thank you to the people who makes our community a better place to live and to celebrate the contribution our tenants and leaseholders across Newcastle make to creating places where people want to be and live.

Good neighbours hold local communities together which is why we want to recognise the selflessness and hard work of these unsung local heroes.

And after months of nominations and deliberations, BBC Radio Newcastle's Kathy Secker was on hand to present the prizes at the ceremony in the Centre for Life in Newcastle.
