Modern Homes Investment Programme
Newcastle’s biggest ever housing improvement programme is going
ahead after we secured a 2 star rating from government
inspectors. The achievement has unlocked £348m of extra
government funding that we will use to ensure that all Council
homes meet the Decent Homes Standard.
We have worked with tenants to decide how best to organise the
improvement work. We decided to split the works into two
separate packages - internal and external work. These will be
carried out separately with a decent break in between. This
will reduce the amount of disruption during the works to your
home.
If work is planned for your home soon, our 'Talk to us' bus will
visit your estate to host an information event a few weeks before
work is due to take place. Visit our Events calendar to find out where the

Byker
We are part of the Byker Investment Task Force, which was
brought together in 2009 to develop a self-financing and
sustainable vision for the estate's future. The Task Force
delivered their final report in March 2010 -

programme is progressing, and what is likely to be achieved
