Business Enterprise

We know that there is a shortage of job opportunities at the moment but have you ever thought about creating your own job?

Create your own job workshop

We are working with Enterprising Newcastle to help, support and provide opportunities for tenants who want to create their own job by starting their own business.

Experienced advisors from Enterprising Newcastle are working in partnership with YHN to help you turn your hobby, trade or idea into your own business.  Support is available every step of the way to make setting up your own business much easier than you think.

We can help you make the first steps and introduce you to a member of Enterprising Newcastle’s friendly team.

The 'Create your own job' business enterprise event was featured in the September/October 2011 issue of Homes & People - click here to read the article. Create your own job is a free event and offers support to tenants who want to turn their idea, hobby or interest into a job.

So if you want to find out more, already have an idea or want some help to think of an idea, please contact Stuart Campbell on 0191 278 7733 or email stuart.campbell@yhn.org.uk.

Case Study

Tara DixonTara Dixon from Blakelaw took the step into self employment as a domestic cleaner working around the Newcastle and Hexham areas.

“I always wanted to start my own business so I could work around bringing up my two children and it also gives me the freedom to make my own decisions. The hardest part was actually deciding at the beginning if I had the confidence and skills to start my own business, but as soon as I got in touch with my advisor I realised there was a lot of help out there.”

Tara took advantage of the support available through the Newcastle Enterprise Package to gain more knowledge and confidence about starting up her own business.
