Your rent account

When you signed your tenancy agreement, you entered into a legal contract with us. You have responsibilities as a tenant - one of which is to pay the rent regularly and on time.

If you find at any time that you cannot make your rent payments, please contact your nearest YHN Housing Services office for advice.  We can only help you if you tell us you are having problems. 

We aim to make it as easy as possible to pay your rent by

  • providing different payment methods
  • offering help and advice for those in financial difficulty
  • responding to questions and explaining your rent account
  • providing easy access to your account and statement information

The easiest ways to pay your rent and service charges are:

  • Direct Debit

This is the most convenient and safest way to pay - all you need is a bank or building society account.

How do I set up Direct Debit rent or service charge payments?

You can set up your Direct Debit over the telephone by calling 0191 278 7749 or you can complete a Direct Debit mandate available:

Setting up other Direct Debits payments

If you have other council or Your Homes Newcastle bills you want to pay by Direct Debit, please contact the section or department named on the bill.

  • Online payments

It's quick and easy to pay your rent or service charges online. You will need:

  • Your credit* or debit card. 
  • Your reference number or invoice 

The cardholder must be present during the transaction.

*We do not accept American Express, JCB or Diners Club cards. A 2% handling fee may be added to some credit card payments.

You can access rent and service charge related services on the go by downloading our APP. Our App is a really easy way to pay your rent or service charges, view your account online, request a Direct Debit or contact us about your rent or service charges whilst on the go.

Other ways to pay your rent and service charges

From 27 November 2015 customers can no longer pay their rent or other YHN services at Customer Service Centres. The best way to make a payment is by Direct Debit or by using one of our online payment methods (see above). We can offer you help to get online if you need it.
