What is the Estate Standards Group?

The Estate Standards Group is made up of tenants and leaseholders who visit council estates around Newcastle to make sure the green areas are well looked after.

Who can come along?

Any tenant or leaseholder who is interested in making sure green areas in Newcastle are well looked after could join the group.  We can only have a limited number of people on the group at any one time so you may have to join a waiting list.

What is involved?

You will need to take part in four walkabouts a year to look at green areas in Newcastle and how well they’ve been maintained.  This will involve being outside for about an hour and a half during each season of the year so you will need to dress sensibly according to the time of year!  

Before you can join the group you will need to come along to a short training session.  The training session will help you to learn about the standard for green areas and what you will be expected to do when you join the group.

What happens after the meetings?

After the walkabouts we will send you the notes from the discussion.  We will also write and tell you how we have improved the standard of green areas as a result of the walkabout.
