To report anti-social behaviour

These lines are confidential and available 24 hours a day to report anti-social behaviour and community safety related issues to the police and your local council.  These include:

  • Vandalism and graffiti
  • Noisy neighbours and loud parties
  • Threatening and abusive behaviour
  • Abandoned vehicles, dumping and fly tipping
  • Drunk and rowdy groups
  • Drug-related anti-social behaviour
  • Broken street lighting.

If you smell gas

If you smell gas, call free on 0800 111 999.
Don’t create a flame or operate electrical switches.
Do put out flames, open doors and windows, keep people away from the area and turn the gas off at the control valve.

You can call this number any time, day or night every day of the year. Your call will not cost you anything. Just pick up the phone, dial the number and you will be put through to a trained operator who will take all the details.

Social Services

Help is available if you, or someone you know who is being cared for by community care services, is at risk of abuse or neglect.

Domestic Violence

If it is not safe for you to stay in your home, we can offer you emergency accommodation.  You should ask at a local community housing office, Housing Advice Centre, customer service centre or at a social services office.  We can arrange emergency accommodation outside of Newcastle where this is necessary.  If you need accommodation after 4.30pm you should call the Out of Hours Emergency Service on 0191 232 8520.

 

 

Repairs Out of Hours Service

If you have an emergency between the hours of 6pm and 8am you can call the Repairs Centre on 0845 113 8888.  Some examples of emergencies are:

  • no usable toilet in the property
  • major structural damage
  • no heating or hot water in winter
  • total loss of electricity
  • you cannot get into your home or your home is not secure (you will need a crime number for this kind of repair)
