Adelaide Terrace shopping centre is close to YHN housing in this area.  Police West Area Command is based at West Road but there is also a sub-station at Tower View.

The West End Health Resource Centre, which is run by Newcastle University, proposes to increase its sporting and recreational activities after the Benwell Customer Service Centre opens.
