We mean ... Homes
We were created in 2004 to manage 32,000 council homes in Newcastle
upon Tyne. By 2010 we will have invested £600 million in delivering
modern homes to council tenants. This will substantially contribute
to regeneration of the city now and for the future.
We mean ... Communities
Our work is not just about bricks and mortar. Our
business is concerned with homes and people in equal measure. We
help to create sustainable communities that people want to live in
and that they can be proud of. We provide choice for our customers;
choice in where they live, the kind of homes they live in and the
services they receive. We work in partnership to create safe places
for vulnerable people and our services are continually improved by
the involvement of our customers.

Our track record
- We are achieving overall customer satisfaction of 90% on
ourModern Homes Programme.
- Our Modern Homes Programme began in spring 2005.
- By spring 2006 we started work on 117 schemes, equivalent to
9,150 homes. There have been 7,623 energy efficiency measures
installed, and 704 disabled adaptations to our
properties.
- We now have Charter Marks for excellent customer services in
the Community Care Alarm Service, the Concierge Service, the Right
to Buy Service, the Asylum Seekers Unit and the Newcastle Furniture
Service.
- The Audit Commission awarded us 2 stars in 2005 recognising
that we provide good services.
