Non-traditional housing
The housing stock managed by Your Homes Newcastle is made up of
various types of dwelling in Newcastle upon Tyne. The styles of
these properties vary across the city, incorporating
traditional and non-traditional construction methods.
YHN's Modern Homes Investment
programme includes work to prefabricated non
traditional houses which were built in the years after World War 1
(1914-1918) and after World War 2 (1939-1945). Work to
these non-traditional dwellings has been complex. In some cases the
dwellings have needed structural repairs to the load-bearing
elements in the form of repairs to the concrete or steel beams and
columns. When refurbishment work is completed the repairs are
not easily identified. Such work has extended the life of the
non-traditional dwellings for at least the next 30 years.
