YHN brings Target Golf to Newcastle
27/08/2008 Your Homes Newcastle has been helping
older people in its sheltered housing accommodation stay fit and
active.
YHN brought Target Golf, a hybrid of golf and darts, to Dunira
House, in Jesmond, last week. The pilot includes three other
sheltered schemes across the city - Allendale House, Byker,
Eastbourne Court, Walker, and Teasdale House, Newbiggin Hall.
YHN Sheltered Housing Manager Tony Railton said:
"Feedback from Dunira House has been very
positive with lots of residents asking when they'll be able to play
again. There is even the possibility of some kind of
inter-sheltered home tournament taking place."
Target Golf aims to improve health and mobility and also keeps
the brain active as residents add up their own scores and indulge
in a bit of friendly competition.
