YHN Tenant or Leaseholder of the Year
This award is open to all YHN tenants or leaseholders that may
have helped neighbours with household chores, regularly helped
neighbours in need or those living alone, made an outstanding act
of goodwill in the community or generally helped their neighbours
out.
And the winner is...
Mary Cross
Mary Cross has been a tremendous help to neighbour Andrew Snook
after he had a severe car accident leaving him plaster bound and
bedridden. His leg was broken in three places and his hip had to be
used to repair wrecked cartilage in his kneecap.
Mary was there to nurse him back t o health by cooking, cleaning
and washing for him, even letting his mum stay in her flat when she
came to visit Andrew.
Andrew says "Mary was so kind. She has been a little gem, a true
friend."

Sheila Snyman
Housewife Sheila Snyman has always been there for neighbour
Joseph Murray in his times of need. Joseph is 90 years of age and
suffered severe asthma attacks since moving to Lemington.
He says "Sheila has been there for me at 2.30 or 3.30 in the
morning. She’s always on hand and happy to help." Modest
Sheila is pleased to look out for Joseph, describing him as "such
an amusing man." She says "its usually me that’s short of breath
when we’re talking, he’s just so funny."
