Eye-popping body popping pensioners!

Twinkle-toed dancers will be getting into the groove this weekend in an intergenerational dance event.

Your Homes Newcastle is inviting older people who are tenants, leaseholders and members of the community to strut their stuff and teach the youngsters a thing or two on at Newcastle Dance Centre, Grainger Park Road.

The first session on June 7 starts at 10.30am with a follow on session on Sunday June 14 at 2.30pm.

Dances will include hip-hop, Bollywood, salsa and disco with a few old favourites thrown into the mix taught by qualified instructors and young dance students.

The event aims to help people of all abilities enjoy dancing; moves can be done while seated and adapted for wheelchair users.

Transport can be arranged through any of the YHN Sheltered Housing Schemes in the area.

Participants can also join a weekly programme of dance sessions starting on Tuesday June 16 from 4.30pm to 5.30pm at Monkchester Community Centre on Monkchester Road, Walker.
