Board members needed

Are you passionate about the community, full of enthusiam and looking for a challenge?

If the answer is yes then a place on the Your Homes Newcastle Board could be just what you are looking for.

YHN is seeking Board members who would really like to make a difference to the people across Newcastle who rely on our services.

Applications are now being accepted for Independent Board Members and Tenant Board Members.

To meet the criteria of the independent member, those with experience in law, finance, quality and diversity would be advantaged.

Tenant members make up a third of the Board and would be expected to bring their views to the table to influence decision making.

YHN has vacancies for two tenant members: one from the Inner West and one from the Outer West and North areas of the city.

Applications from under represented groups such as young people are particularly welcome.

People who are interested in being on the Board should:

  • Have a commitment to social housing and the aims of Your Homes Newcastle.
  • Be able to work as part of a team and share responsibility for Board decisions.
  • Have a commitment to equality.
  • Be able to understand complex information.
  • Put the interests of all tenants and leaseholders and Your Homes Newcastle first.
  • Have knowledge of the needs and aspirations of the communities in Newcastle.
  • Have good communication skills.

To get first hand experience of what being a board member is really like applicants are invited to a Board Taster Session on Tuesday May 26 where there will also be the opportunity to see the current Board in action.

The successful candidates will be offered an induction programme for new and ongoing training and development to prepare new members for participation and to make informed decisions.

For more information, an application pack or to book a place on the taster session contact Maureen Dickson phone 0191 278 8624 or email maureen.dickson@yhn.org.uk.
