Strategic Independent Advisory Group (SIAG)
The Strategic Independent Advisory Group (also known as SIAG) has a
key role at Your Homes Newcastle. Members of the group provide
an independent voice to help YHN in appraising our approach to
equalities and diversity, especially at a strategic level on all
new and significantly changed policies, procedures, housing
services and functions.
Membership of the SIAG is based on an individual's experience
and knowledge of a wide range of diversity issues and not
necessarily on the basis of being a formal representative of a
particular community group.
The SIAG consists of people who reflect the diversity of the
Newcastle area. Membership of the Strategic Independent Advisory
Group is on a voluntary basis. We are sorry to advise that
tenants of YHN are unable to apply for membership.

The role of SIAG
The role of SIAG members is to appraise YHN's approach to
equality, diversity and community cohesion by advising at a
strategic level on policies, procedures and practices. YHN
aims for the SIAG to involve and include all sections of the
community, who meet our requirements, who have specific knowledge,
abilities or awareness of issues affecting those communities.
Our intention is to provide a fair and equitable delivery of
services to all.
The SIAG gives members the chance to make positive contribution
to the development of housing and support services at YHN within
advisory and consultation processes. It is a unique
opportunity to ensure that community issues and needs are addressed
and that trust and confidence continues to be built between YHN and
the community.
