About us
We are an Arms Length Management Organisation (ALMO)
responsible for managing council homes on behalf of Newcastle City
Council.
We were set up in 2004 to manage council properties, to improve
housing in order to meet the Government’s Decent Homes standard,
and to provide a range of support services for Newcastle City
Council.
Currently we manage around 29,000 tenanted and 1,500 leasehold
homes.
In June 2008 we were awarded a three star excellent rating by
the Audit Commission, making us the first ALMO in the North East to
receive three stars.
We are a member of the National Federation of ALMOs, the
representative trade body for Arms Length Management Organisations

We are also registered with the Tenant Services Authority
(registration number 4627) as a provider of social housing - you

Our structure
YHN is a large organisation with around 850 members of
staff. A large number of our staff work in housing
management and support services positions but we also have people
working in back office roles to ensure that the business runs

We operate in three

Institute of Leadership
and Management
Your Homes Newcastle became an approved Institute of Leadership
and Management (ILM) centre in August 2008. Qualifications are
offered in Management, Leadership and Coaching from Level 2 through
to Level 5.
Places on programmes are available to YHN’s partner organisations
at a discounted rate.
